Why is online reputation management for chiropractors important?
It’s not always easy for professionals, especially medical professionals such as chiropractors, to market online ethically and effectively.
However, as every chiropractic doctor knows, a successful practice relies on a good reputation being communicated to new prospective patients on an ongoing basis. It’s one thing to have a great reputation and rapport with your existing patients – but it’s quite another to get the word out in your community so that you begin to attract the kind of long term patients you need to grow your practice.
Online reputation management is becoming increasingly important, as is shown in this video. There’s no question about that. Not only are your prospective patients going on the internet when they’re looking for a chiropractor, but Google is also taking a look at what’s being said about you online.
The way that search engine results are determined is being affected by what Google calls ‘social proof’. Social proof is:
- what people are saying about on popular review sites such as Yelp and Google+ Local
- what citations or local business standing you have i.e. how well are you represented in the major directories for businesses in your area
- your involvement with a community of people on Social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube
So, the next time that someone offers to get you to the ‘#1 position on Google’, take a look at what it is that they’re referring to. It could be quite different to what Google thinks is important today.
If you’re wanting to grow your practice or establish a new practice, it’s essential that you take control of your online reputation and do whatever you can to ensure that you get as many positive online reviews as possible.
